UVA Health Orientation

UVA Health Orientation: Your Orientation Day

For University Medical Center only - a new hybrid Orientation will launch for University Medical Center new hires on Monday, May 13. More information will be sent via email to all University Medical Center managers. Please stay tuned for web updates and look for emails from UVA HR beginning Monday, April 29.

Welcome to UVA Health! We are glad you are here! UVA Health includes a hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, a nationally recognized cancer center and heart center, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia. We rank among the nation’s top hospitals because our doctors, nurses, and caregivers provide a wide variety of high quality, specialized care to patients from across Virginia and beyond. No matter where you are working, patient-centered care is the priority.

Orientation occurs on your first day as a University Medical Center team member, and on or about the first day as a School of Medicine or UVA Physicians Group team member. Depending on your role, orientation and training may take up to two weeks or more to complete. Team members may also participate in department-specific orientation.

All UVA Health new hires will receive a Workday learning module entitled Welcome to UVA Health, which is an interactive learning module that references UVA Health cultural content.

Further information about the process will be emailed to the new hire’s personal email address once the new hire has been cleared for hire. The manager of the department will be copied on this email and should be in contact with the new hire shortly thereafter.

To assist UVA Health new hires and their managers, Orientation and Onboarding Guides have been created. They are a great resource for answers about Orientation and onboarding processes. Be sure to choose the right guide for your organization.
