Moving to a new location is certainly exciting, but it can be challenging, time-consuming, and costly. UVA’s goal is to minimize the stress that comes with planning your move, and to provide financial support when you sell or buy your home.

Reimbursement of Certain Relocation Expenses

The University may elect to offer reimbursement of certain relocation expenses for salaried faculty and university staff hires up to the limits established in the University’s Moving and Relocation Policy. To be compensated for moving and relocation expenses, an employee must enter into a Moving Agreement with the University prior to receiving any reimbursements.

Moving and relocation reimbursements may have tax consequences to employees; the University policy reflects IRS Rules and Regulations, Publication 521, Cat. No. 15040E. Reimbursement expense transactions are processed through University Human Resources, and are included in the employee’s regularly scheduled paycheck.
