Tobacco cessation programs are available to UVA employees, their spouses and dependents over the age of 18 who participate in the UVa Health Plan.
We are excited to announce that starting January, 2014, the UVa Health Plan will apply a Non-Tobacco Discount to the health plan premiums of those who are non-tobacco users. All adults covered by the employee’s policy must be non-tobacco users in order for the employee to receive the discount. Employees and their covered adult dependent(s) must be tobacco free for at least 12 months to receive the Non-Tobacco Discount. One of the best things you can do for your health is to quit. The University of Virginia supports those efforts and has programs in place to help you break the habit.

Quit For Life – 5 telephonic coaching calls to help you succeed in quitting tobacco. 12 months of unlimited access to additional Support on the phone. Web access to social support forums and interactive features. Assistance selecting tobacco cessation support Medication. Free nicotine replacement therapy delivered to your home. Enroll by calling 1-866-QUIT-4-LIFE (1-866-784-8454) or visit the Quit for Life website at Quit for Life. Hoo’s Well participants earn $100 for participating! Breathe – Aetna’s online tobacco cessation program available anytime, anywhere. Go to Aetna and log in to Aetna Navigator or register as a new user if you haven’t already done so. Once logged on, go to Take Health Assessment, then go to My Health Media Programs, and Quit Smoking or Breathe. (If you haven’t taken your on-line Health Assessment you will complete that first to be eligible).
Quit Smoking Charlottesville – 12 weeks of group support for tobacco users who are ready to quit! Set individual goals, participate in 60 minute education sessions offered by community experts including education on nicotine replacement therapy and other resources.
