|UVA Budget Developers||develop departmental budgets and provide budget information to the University Budget Office. This responsibility is active only during the budget season: the months of February, March, and April.||Training is offered each year by the budget office|
The University of Virginia budget development process begins in December and January when the budget instructions, templates, assumptions, and calendar are completed and posted on the University Budget Office’s (UBO)home page.
Each year, in January, the UBO holds a training course for all individuals needing the UVA Budget Developer responsibility to complete their budget requirements. Users who held the responsibility in the previous budget development cycle must attend one of the training sessions. UBO staff conduct the training which includes, but is not limited to, a description of budget development process’s required submissions and changes in procedures over the past year.
In January, the UBO notifies each Vice President when the final instructions and state and local general budget targets are ready. Vice Presidents then communicate the instructions to the units reporting to them. The targets are accessible through a Discoverer report available in ODS. During the months of February, March, and April, departments are required to complete their budget submissions using the Integrated System Budget Forms no later than the due dates in the Budget Calendar. The due dates are established at intervals determined by the UBO.
