Letter from Susan Carkeek, Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer
Welcome to the University of Virginia and congratulations on your new position!
The University is an exciting place. Designed by founder Thomas Jefferson, the University is known for its outstanding academic programs, its picturesque “Academical Village” and Grounds, and its award-winning Health System. It is also the largest and most-sought-after employer in the region. But what truly makes the University a wonderful place is the special people working here. You have joined an outstanding community and I expect in no time at all you will consider many of them not just colleagues but friends.
This University is more than just a place to work: it’s a place you can build a career, it’s a place you can make a difference. University Human Resources is here to help you succeed in doing just that. We offer a wealth of benefits, programs and learning opportunities to help you make the most of your time at the University.
If you have any questions about working at the University, I hope you will feel free to contact us at askhr@virginia.edu or ask any of the HR staff to help you. If you have suggestions about how we might serve you better, I’d appreciate hearing them. Our goal is your success!
Once again, welcome to U.Va.!
Sincerely,
Susan Carkeek
