U.Va. Raises Minimum Hire Rate to $10.65

Posted: July 19, 2011

President Sullivan and the University of Virginia have demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the salaries of our lowest-paid employees. Effective July 4, 2011, the University has implemented a 5% increase in the minimum hiring rate – from $10.14 to $10.65 — for Classified and University Staff.

For Wage and Temporary employees, the increase will be phased in over the summer and will be fully implemented by mid-September 2011.

Any new assignments created from this day forward will be subject to the new minimum wage rate.
