Subject: Recognition Leave for Memorial Day Weekend
Dear University Employee,
On May 23, 2012, Governor McDonnell awarded two hours of recognition leave to all state employees for May 25, 2012. The University will also award these 2 hours of recognition leave to all salaried staff and faculty. For those paid biweekly, the leave will be available for use in this pay period. As always, if you wish to take the leave, you will need to have approval in advance from your supervisor. Supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to use the leave this afternoon to the extent possible. However, we recognize that may not be possible and still maintain essential services. If necessary, the recognition leave will be available for use within a year of being awarded.
Hours for part-time qualifying employees will be pro-rated. For twelve-month faculty, the additional 2 hours of leave should be worked out with individual managers. Please refer to the Provost's policy on leave for more information.
This leave does not apply to employees paid by the Medical Center.
Have a safe and restful weekend!
