Subject: Get Your W-2 on Jan. 16! Find Out How
Dear University Community:
Get your W-2 sooner! This year, the online W-2 will be available Jan. 16, 2012, two weeks earlier than the paper version. (Please note that no W-2s--this year's or previous years--will be visible online until Jan. 16). If you don't elect to get your W-2 on line, your paper W-2 will not be mailed until Jan. 31, 2012. If you have already elected to get an online W-2 in previous years, you do not need to do so again.
Online W-2s are...
- Available sooner than paper W-2s
- Better for the environment - less paper
- Safe, secure, and approved by the IRS
It's easy to choose the online version, but U.Va. needs your help. The IRS requires you to opt out of getting a paper W-2. If you don't "say no" to the paper version, we are required to keep sending you paper. For your rights and obligations regarding these requirements, please visit our W-2 pages.
You can opt out of paper two ways:
- Simply reply to this email with the following statement:
Please accept this email as my authorization for the University of Virginia to provide my W-2 electronically. I give my consent to no longer receive a paper W-2.
OR
- Follow the simple instructions on our W-2 pages to use Employee Self-Service to opt in to an electronic W-2.
If you opt in, you can access your online W-2 through Employee Self-Service starting Jan. 16. There you can also view your payslips, submit or approve timecards, update personal information, and more.
