Subject: Eight Additional Hours of Leave Awarded for 2012
Dear Academic Division colleagues:
As we approach the holidays it gives me great pleasure to announce that all Academic Division, full-time and part-time salaried faculty and staff have been awarded an additional eight hours of leave. The hours were awarded for Dec. 31, 2012. Because the University is already observing that day as a holiday, we will award the eight hours as comp time.
Your leave balances will show the eight additional hours awarded on Nov. 5, 2012, in order to make the leave available in time for Thanksgiving. As always, if you wish to take leave or use your comp time around the holidays, you will need to have approval in advance from your supervisor. Supervisors are encouraged to be as flexible as possible in granting leave requests, especially during holiday periods.
For twelve-month faculty, the additional 8 hours of leave should be worked out with individual managers. Please refer to the Provost's policy on leave for more information. Hours for part-time qualifying employees will be pro-rated.
For more information on the University holiday calendar or how holidays and comp time are determined, read the holiday memo.
If you have questions, contact the HR Service Center at AskHR@virginia.edu or call 982.0123.
I hope this makes the season more enjoyable and I wish you happy and healthy holidays!
