Clarification on Two Hours of Leave Awarded by Gov McDonnell

Subject: Clarification on Two Hours of Leave Awarded by Gov McDonnell

Dear University Employee,

Earlier today Governor McDonnell awarded two hours of leave to all state employees for April 22, 2011. The University will award that time as comp special to all salaried staff and faculty. For those paid biweekly, the leave will be available for use in this pay period.

As always, if you wish to take leave or use your comp time, you will need to have approval in advance from your supervisor. Comp special leave must be used within a year of award.

Hours for part-time qualifying employees will be pro-rated. For twelve-month faculty, the additional 2 hours of leave should be worked out with individual managers. Please refer to the Provost’s policy on leave for more information.

This leave does not apply to employees paid by the Medical Center.

Have a safe and restful weekend!

Sincerely,

Susan Carkeek
